Como is the capital city of Lake Como, offers plenty of attractions and activities. Como's most recognizable landmark is its Cathedral and is seen from everywhere around Lake Como. If you have the time I would suggest making time to hike up to the top for breathtaking panoramic views, and perhaps also taking time to explore its interior (if it is open).

This gives you an amazing new way of looking at breathtaking landscapes since you'll be closer to their shores than traveling by ferry between towns. Brunate




Brunate, located 1600 feet higher than Como in Como Lake Como, has long been known as "the balcony of the Alps." A funicular line first built in 1894, and then recently renovated takes you up to this village where the noblest families in Milan and Como would come for vacations and you can see the reason why the streets are lined with charming Art Nouveau villas.


At just 7 minutes long and crowded with people taking photographs at lightning speed!, the trail offers stunning views of Lake Como and surrounding mountains. When you reach the top, you will be able to explore the village, with the two-fronted Church of Saint Andrea Apostolo as your main landmarks.


From the church, you can take a walk towards the Volta Lighthouse which was constructed in 1927 to commemorate Alessandro Volta who resided briefly in Brunate. Bellagio


Bellagio has breathtaking lake Como views that rival other city or region, making it the perfect option to take in all the attractions. Trenord train service from Milan's airport or central station last about 1 hour offering an access point to Lake Como. Be aware of the fact that two trains that depart towards Lake Como; make sure that you are on the one departing from Como San Giovanni train station - they make more stops which means they take longer in total! Trains departing Porta Garibaldi will also take two times as long.


Alternately, renting a car and driving straight from the airport or hotel up to Lake Como may also be possible. Ferries that connect Bellagio, Menaggio and Varenna regularly and cost around a few euros per trip is another method to get to this gorgeous lake! Bellagio


Varenna


Varenna is a standout from other Lake Como towns for its beautiful lakefront setting, the historic old town and beautiful villas with botanical gardens - in addition to its medieval castle offering panoramic views. This makes it among the top picturesque towns along Lake Como. From here, it can be used as an excellent location to begin exploring Bellagio Brunate or Como city itself.


Varenna is a wonderful place to be explored on a boat cruise The most sought-after tour companies providing tours that visit villas and gardens along its shore, medieval castle ruins, as well as private boats that cut down on wait times or long ferry journey times allowing maximum time spent enjoying the beautiful lakeside city.
